South Padre Island Vacation 2015

As usual, I am way behind on my blogging.  It was so much easier to stay up-to-date when Nora was a baby...now she's so demanding!  That's another blog though :)

Shawn's family decided to come for a visit this summer around Shawn's birthday so we packed up and headed to South Padre Island for some beach time!  Shawn loves the beach so it seemed like a perfect idea of something fun to do while his parents were in town.

They flew into Houston and then rented a car and met us in SPI.  We left on our trip on Shawn's birthday, so we stopped for pancakes (Shawn's favorite...and Nora's too) a IHOP on the way.

We had a great time again this year.  We stayed in a different condo than last year (only because the one we stayed in last year wasn't available the week we wanted) and it was pretty nice.  It was really close to the beach and had a nice little park across the street!  The condo did have a sweet pool though! We got an awesome cot for Nora from Amazon and used the walk in closet in the bedroom to make Nora her own room.  She loved it!!!

Shawn was really hoping that Nora would enjoy the beach more than last year.  She definitely loved the sand right away...but she still wasn't a fan of the ocean.  The waves were just a bit too scary for her!  She collected a lot of shells too, in addition to digging in the sand and knocking down all the sand castles that Shawn and I built! Shawn was in heaven in the ocean, of course...and I enjoyed my time under the beach umbrella as best I could while being covered in sand (which I hate!).

I hate sand...it gets everywhere!!

This is how I spent my time...in the shade of the umbrella.

Collecting shells...sort of in the ocean!!

Nora loved the Sea Turtle Rescue and the Birding Center.  I missed out on the birding center because I was home sick.  I managed to get strep throat on my vacation...just my luck!

Bob found a sunset dinner cruise that he thought sounded great, so he got it all planned and set up for all of us.  I was incredibly nervous about taking Nora on a boat...and stayed nervous the entire time we were on the boat...but she did great and she loved it!  Everyone enjoyed it!

No pictures please!

We even took Nora to mini-golf one day.  She really enjoyed that!  She kept claiming that it was her turn and when the ball finally went in the hole she would shout, "hole in one!"  It was awesome!  And the guys got to use the go-carts too.

We all had a great time and the week went too fast!  Nora misses her Nana and Papa...  We're thinking maybe doing Disney World next summer...that sounds like my kinda vacation :)
