My stepdad was here visiting last week and the kiddos had a blast with "crampa." On the last day he was here we took the kids to the Austin Zoo, and Eric & Allison came along as well. Allison is going to start volunteering there soon, so she had a lot to tell us about the zoo. The Austin Zoo isn't a very big zoo. It is an animal sanctuary, and most of the animals have been rescued from private collections or suffered injuries at one point that left them unable to survive on there own in the wild.
Amelia loved the zoo right away because we saw a peacock as soon as we walked in. Birdie!!!
These kids are so freakin' cute!
Me and my little clone :)
Nora and Amelia loved feeding the animals. Amelia mostly was throwing the food in at them. Nora pet a few and thought it was hilarious when they licked her hand or nibbled her finger! Some of these guys made really funny faces and boy are they aggressive when they want food! They would get into fights with each other and try to take the whole bag of food out of your hand! Nora preferred feeding the deer...they were very gentle.
Logan fed a deer right at the end and then petted it!! This picture cracks me up thought...look at Nora! Crazy girl!
The zoo has a little train that you can ride. Its takes you around the zoo and through the surrounding hill country. Such a pretty view!
Nora really loved the reptile house at the end. I think I see some sort of reptile in our future!
Nora ADORES her uncle Eric and Allison!
We went to Jason's Deli afterward for yummy food and free ice cream cones. Nora and Amelia both enjoyed their cones :)
I think Mimi and I have decided to have the girls birthday party next year at the zoo!! Amelia is so addicted to birds and Nora loves animals! She wanted to see the Lion so badly while we were at the zoo but he never came out of his house. She was bummed...but luckily she gets over things quickly at this age! We'll be going back soon, for sure!
