First Foods

At Nora's 4 month check-up with Dr. Garza, she recommended we start introducing cereal and first solid foods.  We started rice cereal about a week after that check-up, but I still only give it to her every 2-3 days.  She really seems to like it and she's doing great!  She doesn't really spit out too much of it!  She uses her tongue to move the food to the back of her mouth like she should.  She's gonna be a good eater...not that we are surprised by that :)  I didn't want to rush into any other foods, so we've been taking it slow.  Plus, I decided I wanted to make my own baby food, so I needed some extra time to get the stuff for that and to make sure I knew what I was doing!  So I finally bought some stuff and made my first batch of baby food the other day!!

Sweet 'Toes is the recipe I used.  I found this website on Pinterest and it really is a nice site!  The recipes are categorized based on age ranges for feeding and they're all pretty easy.  I read a while back that sweet potatoes are a good food to start with because its a "veggie" but its sweet.  I was a bit reluctant to make this my first time, but only because I HATE sweet potatoes!  But I moved past it and I did it!  I even tasted it (and it is confirmed...I still dislike sweet potatoes!).  The recipes all say to use water, but I read something awhile back that suggested using breast milk instead of water, so that's what i did!

I found these little containers on Amazon and I love them!!  They are the perfect size (2 oz), interlocking, stackable and they come with a little tray to use in the freezer or fridge!

Today we decided to let Nora try her homemade baby food!
She did great!!
