Journey to the Midwest: Part IV

Ok...we're back home now so I guess I should finish with the posts about our trip!

Where were we....in Indianapolis.

Theresa was nice enough to let us crash at her apartment, and we truly appreciate it!  Hopefully Nora's night time crying wasn't too disturbing!  Theresa got some playtime in with the little lady though before we left.

Our next stop was in Wakarusa, which is in Northern Indiana near South Bend.  Shawn's Grandma & Grandpa Bowers live up there and his aunts & uncles were going to all meet for lunch so they could all see Shawn...right!  They all just wanted to meet Nora!!  We totally understand though...she's pretty awesome!  We made sure to dress Nora in her new IU outfit since Grandma Bowers is a HUGE IU basketball fan!  She loved the outfit :)

Apparently Shawn and his cousins (and his cousin's kids) have all had pictures taken in this rocking chair.  Nora's turn!

Everyone got a chance to talk to Nora and play with her too.  She was in a great mood, like she was on the whole trip!  She was totally showing off for everyone!  I don't know what she was thinking because it just made everyone love her even more which made it that much harder for them to say goodbye :(  Especially Nana...she did not want Nora to leave!

We went for a visit to the Nursing Home where Shawn's grandpa is living for a visit too.  He has Alzheimer's and isn't doing well.  Grandma says he doesn't remember her sometimes now.  I can't imagine how hard that is for her after 60+ years of marriage!  Shawn really wanted him to have a chance to meet Nora and although he probably didn't realize he was holding his great-granddaughter, he sure seemed to like her!  He was smiling at her and when she would "talk" he would mimic her.  It was really sweet!  I know it was hard for Shawn to see him like that, but I know it meant a lot to his family and to Shawn to take Nora there.

We spent that night in South Bend with Theresa's mom (Nora's Mama Barb).  Nora got to play with some tiny dogs (she's used to our big dogs) and she played with Mama Barb!  Barb cooked us a delicious dinner and dessert (it was so so yummy) and had breakfast for us too!  It was so nice and we so so so appreciate her letting us crash her house with an infant!  Nora really had a great time!

Since we were in South Bend, Shawn wanted to stop by the campus of Notre Dame to get some pictures.  He was particularly interested in seeing the football stadium!  He also spent too much money in the gift shop...got presents for the kiddos (and himself).

We headed into Chicago after that...but I guess that'll be the next post.  Tomorrow.  Last one, I promise!
