Six months old!!

Nora is now six months old!!

Now I'm seriously starting to wonder if time has a completely different set of rules once you become a parent, because there is no way that my baby is already 6 months old!  No way!  Feels like 3 months, maybe.  Wow!  She's getting so big and doing so much...I just can't believe it.  But...it has indeed been 6 months, so I need to just accept it and move on.  To those of you that have been parents awhile, is this what it feels like for you too?  Does time start to slow back down eventually?  Please tell me it does because I may just go crazy if next time I blink she's 5 years old already!

Nora had her 6 month check-up with Dr. Garza yesterday morning (including vaccines), so she wasn't her usually happy self for her teddy bear pictures.  I still managed to get a few cute ones before she was desperate for a nap, but no big smiles :(

Dr. Garza says she looks great...even with her current sniffles and runny nose!  She is meeting all her developmental milestones and all her measurements are right on track...right on track with a 9 month old maybe :)

Weight: 23 lbs 7 ounces (>95%)
Length: 27 inches (90%)
Head: 18 inches (>95%)

Dr. Garza asked about her feeding habits and said that it sounds like my schedule and eating plan for Nora is great.  Her suggestion, replace 1 bottle a day with water.  I know this sounds strange, but she is getting too many calories and it is from my breastmilk!  The past 3 or 4 weeks, I have has Nora on a pretty specific feeding routine.

Breakfast - breastfeeding
Lunch - cereal w/ fruit & 4 ounce bottle breastmilk
Dinner - veggie & fruit then 4 ounce bottle breastmilk
Evening - cereal w/ veggie & breastfeeding

This gives her approximately 22 - 26 ounces of breastmilk a day...while is actually the bottom end of the range for babies her age.  Dr. Garza agreed that this feeding plan looks good.  Around 7-8 months old we'll start adding protein too...but she wants to cut some of the calories but taking 1 bottle and changing it to water.  So we'll try it and see how it goes!  Here's hoping for no weight gain this month!

Nora has starting doing so much this past month!  She rolls everywhere now, all the time!  As soon as you lay her on the floor she is off and rolling!   She can sit up now too, really well!!  We try to put her boppy behind her though so when she falls she doesn't hit the ground, but she does really well sitting up and playing with her toys!  Nora also reaches for things, grabs them and they go straight to her mouth!  She grabs everything...the food or drink you have in your hand, the glasses off your face, the shopping list in your hand at the grocery store, and everything else!  She babbles a lot too, and besides the normal random sounds she has started with the mamamamamama babble!  Love it!! We enjoy this girl so much!!
