Nora loves books.
I mean, she really loves books.
She pretends she's reading them.
She LOVES the library.
She loves turning the pages and pointing things out on each page.
She loves to find things on each page that you ask her to.
I love that she loves books.
Our bedtime routine typically goes like this.
Me: "Nora. Time for bed. Say goodnight to Abuela."
Nora runs into Abuela's room, waves then gives her a hug.
Me: "Nora. Say goodnight to daddy."
Nora runs over to daddy (typically at the computer or on the couch reading or watching tv) gives a hug and kiss.
Me: "Ok Nora. Let's go upstairs and brush our teeth."
Nora runs (literally) to the stairs, climbs the stairs then heads straight for the bathroom where she picks up her stool and places it in front of the sink. We brush her teeth then she gets to turn off the light. She runs (literally) into her room and starts getting into stuff!
Me: "Come on Nora. Let's get jammies on and change your diaper so we can read a story."
Change diaper and put on jammies. Nora then runs to the bookcase to choose a book while I choose one of her library books for our daily bedtime reading adventure.
I sit in the glider and Nora climbs up in my lab and we read. She usually chooses "Miss Spider's Tea Party" or one of the "Llama Llama" books. Those are her favorites.
I LOVE our bedtime routine.
I look forward to it, especially days I work.
Days my job forces me to stay late to sort things out, I am constantly thinking that I am going to miss bedtime. I hate missing her bedtime.
This week, one of the library books I chose to read to Nora is called Trouper by Meg Kearney (illustrated by E.B. Lewis).
I was drawn to this book at the library because of the cover. Anyone who knows me knows I am a huge dog lover. If you are a Facebook friend then you have surely seen many pictures of my sweet Marcie Moo. This book is a story of a rescue dog from the perspective of the dog. I am not gonna lie, I cried as I read this book to Nora. Marcie Moo was stuck at the animal shelter for 6 weeks and it makes me sad to think that people came by her without taking her home and how worthless she must have felt. Lucky for me though! This book made me think about the day that Nora will go to the shelter and choose the dog that she thinks is most special for her, just like Marcie is to me!
