I have always wanted to have a camera that takes great pictures...but I have always fallen short of goal when purchasing. Perhaps because I just don't know enough about cameras, perhaps because I let the sales people talk me into something that isn't quite what I'm looking for, or perhaps because I've always been too cheap to spend the money on what I really want. Well, no more. I decided that in lieu of the new $300 pre-lit Christmas tree that I was going to buy this year, I would get a DSLR camera.
What brought on this decision? I finally got around to making our family Christmas photo book from last year (I know, I know...it's been a busy year) and I noticed how much better the photos were of Mimi's kids than my kid. The pictures of their tree and the gifts were so much clearer and the lighting was so much better. I just finally decided that I wanted a better camera. Also, a friend from work is a photographer and she taught a bunch of people at work how to really use their cameras and is willing to do it again so I can get in on the action!
So I got my camera. It's a Canon and I love it already. I've been playing with it the last couple of days, just changing the settings and seeing how it affects the picture. I've learned a lot already. But even my insanely amateur photography skills have resulted in better pictures that I'm used to!
Here's what I've gotten so far.
I think I'm going to have fun with this camera!!
