2 week check-up

Nora had her two-week check up with the pediatrician yesterday.  She's doing great!!

Weight: 9 lbs 7 oz

She's growing like a weed!  Even with our breastfeeding issues, she's still gaining plenty of weight the doctor says she looks great!  No jaundice.  Pees and poops are good.  She's basically perfect...except that she and I can't seem to get the breastfeeding thing worked out.

We had a visit yesterday with a lactation consultant.  Basically she and I are doing everything right, but it still is being tolerated well by my poor nipples.  Sorry if this is TMI.  That's life with a new breastfed baby!  Looks like Nora has a high arch in the roof of her mouth, which is causing a bit of trauma to my nipples because she has to work a bit harder to press the nipple against the roof of her mouth to get the milk out.  Plus I've been having a lot of plugged ducts.  Not comfortable either.  The LC suggested trying something called Lecithin ..ever heard of it?  Any thoughts?  She said that my milk is very fatty and that could be clogging the ducts.  Lecithin is supposed to change the fat is some way to decreased the instances of duct plugging.  I think I will try it unless anyone has anything negative to say about it...

Nora's doing great in general though!  She's sleeping more at night (typically will go 4-5 hours between feedings during the night!) but always has 1 feeding a night that she wants to stay awake after for about an hour.  Not my favorite time of the night.  Wish she liked her awake time to be more during the daylight hours.
